USICD Welcomes New Staff Members

The USICD Board of Directors and membership welcome two new staff members to our team.
Andrea Shettle, MSW joins us as our new Program Manager. Andrea will be managing the day-to-day activity of the Global Disability Rights Library Project (GDRL), our newly launching partnership with the University of Iowa WiderNet Project, and she will play an integral role in further developing USICD as an education and information resource for the international human rights and disabilities movement. As many of you know, Andrea comes to us with an already established international profile as a knowledgeable resource on the CRPD, disability rights, women's concerns, and DPO development. She has worked and consulted for a variety of excellent organizations, such as the World Bank, the Disability Rights Fund, and the World Deaf Information Resource Project (WDIRP) at Gallaudet University. Sara Laney joins us as our new half-time Program Assistant. Sara will be supporting increased communications from USICD to our members and constituents through our mailing databases and website maintenance, supporting our board and committee scheduling and materials, and assisting the management staff in the implementation of USICD initiatives. Sara is a graduate student at American University's School of Public Affairs, studying Justice, Law,and Society. She brings a solid background in office systems, having worked previously as an administrative coordinator; she has also worked in disability advocacy and brings an interest in disability rights.
